SaveYourFreedoms.us - What to Do

What can we do about the major erosion of civil liberties and basic human rights that is taking place under the Bush administration (with the help of congress)?

The following are relatively easy to do and somewhat obvious steps. None of the steps and tools offered here are an answer in themselves but with enough people participating they offer some hope of at least rolling back some of the lost freedoms and democracy that has occurred under the current regime.

1) Obviously, work to elect someone better than Bush in the 2004 election. Almost equally important, elect someone in the upcoming primaries who is clearly better on preserving our freedoms. Congressman Dennis Kucinich (Democrat) is the only Presidential candidate who voted against the misnamed Patriot Act and has unambiguously spoken out against it on the campaign trail. There are also other Presidential candidates who would be at least better than Bush on this issue. see KnowTheCandidates.org

Also, support in any way you can elected officials who are up for re-election who voted against Bush's anti-democracy legislation. Click here to see a list of who voted the correct way.

2) We will help you notify, in a couple of very easy steps, key senators who can block any proposed new erosions of our freedoms like (un) Patriot II and who might actually pay attention to your efforts. We will also inform you of the results of your efforts. Click here to go to notify elected officials. This is a one time process that will instantly notify certain important Senators.

3) There are a whole host of other longer range actions that can be done to restore our lost civil liberties and democracy. For instance, help diminish and replace the power of the major media, which is highly culpable in the erosion of democracy in America. Help create fair elections, and political campaigns less influenced by big money. Click here to see links to groups working on these issues.
